The school will take place from 15-18 June, 2026, and is hosted by the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and the Stanford PULSE Institute and co-organized by the Center for Free-Electron Laser Sciences (DESY and University of Hamburg, Germany) and Paul-Scherrer Institute (Switzerland).
Core lectures this year will cover:
- Fundamentals of X-ray free-electron lasers
- Theory of x-ray matter interaction
- Atomic and molecular physics
- Ultrafast chemical dynamics
- Condensed matter physics
- Structural biology
- Matter in extreme conditions
In addition, special lectures will be on attosecond science, ultrafast electron diffraction, resonant inelastic X-ray scattering, and X-ray correlation spectroscopy. Participants will have the opportunity to tour the Linac Coherent Light Source, and work in teams to develop their own project ideas.
