PhD position within theoretical materials physics, NMBU, Oslo, Norway (Deadline: 27.05.2026)

We are currently searching for a candidate for a PhD position within theoretical materials physics at SINTEF Oslo and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, just outside Oslo, Norway.

The position is linked to the project Novel materials for low-temperature thermoelectric cooling (Nomatec), funded by the Research Council of Norway. The main goal of this project is to develop new thermoelectric materials (LTMs) for thermoelectric cooling. The successful candidate will contribute to this goal by theory-based activities:

• Develop and implement theory-based models for electronic scattering and transport in materials
• Compute electronic and thermal transport properties based on first-principles electronic structure calculations
• Perform materials screening, including machine learning, to identify promising thermoelectric materials for cooling technology
