Full Time Faculty Position - Physics Department USM, Santiago, Chile (Deadline: 28.02.2026)
The Physics Departmentof the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM or USM, for short) is seeking to hire a full-time Academic who will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Experimental Physics. (Position Code SJ25-64).

Job Responsibilities:
Academic responsibilities, according to current regulations, include teaching, research and development (R&D&i+e), outreach, and administrative duties. Shortlisted candidates who meet the basic requirements will be invited to give a presentation. If no applicant meets the profile required by the Department, the search may be declared void and reopened at a later date.

- Certified copies of diploma and degree certificates. If selected, and your documents were issued abroad, they must be duly apostilled.
- Copies of five relevant publications.
- Statement of research plans and teaching interests.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
a. Hold a Ph.D. in Experimental Physics or a related discipline.
b. Have postdoctoral research experience.
c. Demonstrate a verifiable record in the award and management of research grants.
d. Provide evidence of teaching experience in Higher Education, including the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
e. Maintain active research lines in one or more of the following experimental areas:
i) Photonics.
ii) Quantum Optics.
iii) Photodetectors and Optoelectronics.
iv) Adaptive Optics and Astro-engineering Instrumentation; or related fields.
f. Demonstrate proficiency in Spanish or English, both written and oral. Applicants lacking proficiency in Spanish must commit to attaining adequate command of the language within one year to teach and interact effectively with students.
g. Provide evidence of international research activity through indexed publications and participation in research projects with established collaborative networks.
