Postdoctoral Position in Computational Electronic Structure, Kent State University, Ohio, USA (Deadline: 31.12.2025)

Announcing a Postdoctoral Position, Kent State University (Kent, OH) – Dunietz Group

The position focuses on electronic-structure studies within the computational research group led by Professor Barry Dunietz. Further details about the group’s research activities can be found at:
https://www.personal.kent.edu/~bdunietz

The appointment is in the general areas of computational chemistry and condensed matter. The successful candidate will develop and implement ab initio approaches to investigate material properties at the interface between molecular and bulk systems. Research will focus on elucidating how optical, electronic, and mechanical properties relate to material functionality. The computational work will be conducted in close collaboration with both experimental and theory-focused research groups. Specific projects will be aligned with the candidate’s research interests and ongoing funded efforts.

Applicants with a strong background in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Prior computational research experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous: time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT), quantum embedding, stochastic DFT, density functional design, many-body methodologies, and modeling of energy and electron transfer processes.

Salary is competitive, with an excellent package of benefits included. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal by mutual agreement and availability of funds.

Applications should include:

  • Cover letter describing research interests and experience
  • Short abstract summarizing research accomplishments
  • Curriculum vitae
  • List of 2–3 references (former advisors or collaborators)

Applicants may also include electronic copies of up to three representative publications.

Interested candidates should send their application materials by email to:
