The workshop, held as a satellite meeting of the 21 st Direct Drive and Fast Ignition Workshop (DDFIW), explored the many applications of structured materials in the physics of high-power laser interactions.
The second edition of the Workshop on Micro- and Nano-Structured Materials for Experiments with High-Power Lasers has been organized in Frascati 12 June 2026 as a one-day event. The workshop is related to the homonymous Laserlab-Europe AISBL Expert Group and has been completely supported by Laserlab-Europe. More than 40 scientists from European countries, China and Japan participated in the meeting. 16 oral contributions were presented in three sessions, one on the manufacturing of micro- and nano-structured materials, the second on their use in the experiments with nanosecond and picosecond high-power lasers and the third on experiments with short pulse lasers for particle acceleration. Long discussions developed after each presentation, stimulating new ideas and interest in the topics presented, and also suggesting potential solutions to complicated problems, in an informal atmosphere of mutual collaboration. The success of this edition led its Scientific Committee to foresee a new edition in about one year, where hopefully many more scientists will participate, considering the expected high growth of this research field.
