Research Fellow/Early stage Researcher position in ultrafast materials science, in Computational & Applied Materials Science, in ELI ALPS, Szeged Hungary

Immediate PhD and Postdoctoral opportunities are available at ELI-ALPS, Szeged, Hungary, within the Computational and Applied Materials Science group, for research in the following areas: 

(i) excited state DFT- and Machine Learning-driven optimization of material properties and design of novel materials.

(ii) Photoresponse and ultrafast charge migration in biomolecules: Quantum Chemistry simulations and modelling of sub-femtosecond charge dynamics induced by laser interactions for phototherapy applications.

(iii) XUV/EUV/IR-assisted High Harmonic Spectroscopy: DFT and TDDFT studies of nonlinear phenomena in molecules and semiconductors.

(iv) Energy applications: Multiscale simulations for the design and synthesis of low-dimensional materials for photovoltaics and energy storage.

Qualifications:
• Experience with DFT, TDDFT, Molecular Dynamics, and/or Machine Learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively in close interaction with experimental teams.

Our team members are responsible for probing structure and photoresponse in materials through quantum chemistry simulations and understanding of ultrafast electron dynamics, in close collaboration with experiments and user community.We also provide simulation supports towards user experiments carried in ELI-ALPS.
