Research Associate position, Impulsive Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy, Imperial College, London, UK (Deadline: 01.05.2025)

A postdoc position is available in the group of Jasper van Thor at Imperial College London in order to conduct femtosecond time resolved Impulsive Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy experiments. The project involves exciton dynamics studies of natural and small molecule model systems in addition to work on chemical dynamics and non-adiabatic processes.

The successful candidate is expected to have a background in ultrafast laser spectroscopy, preferably using non-collinear optical parametric amplifiers (NOPA’s) and ISRS.

The position is available initially for a duration of two years, with the possibility to extend with a further two years.
The project is supported by The Leverhulme Trust. The ultrafast spectroscopy laboratory offers advanced capabilities for femtosecond spectroscopy including electronic, infrared vibrational and ISRS and pulse shaping and characterisation techniques. The van Thor group additionally works at X-ray Free Electron Laser facilities in the field of ultrafast science and femtosecond time resolved X-ray crystallography.
