Postoc opening in Ultrafast chiral Spectroscopy of proton-driven molecular motors, University of Basel, Switzerland (Deadline: 31.12.2025)
The Ultrafast Chiral Dynamics Laboratory at University of Basel is looking for a creative and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in ultrafast spectroscopy and photochemistry to join our interdisciplinary team.
Our group develops and applies ultrafast chiral spectroscopy techniques to capture both the structural and electronic dynamics that drive the (bio-)chemical functions of chiral molecular systems. In this research project, the candidate will use ultrafast circular dichroism and transient absorption spectroscopy in the deep ultraviolet and visible regimes to determine the switching mechanism, performance, and uni-directional motion of newly developed proton-driven chiral molecular motors.
The research is funded by a multilateral research grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation and combines the complementary expertise of three academic research teams to design, synthesise, spectroscopically analyse, and optimise a new class of chiral molecular motors driven by photo-induced proton transfer.
The position is for 2.5 years with a starting date envisaged for 1 June 2026, but this is flexible. The position will be open until a suitable candidate is found, so we encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
