PhD Position - Ultrafast Chemical Dynamics at The University of Nottingham, UK (Deadline: 20.09.2025)
Nottingham Ultrafast Reaction Dynamics research group is looking for a PhD student to develop new instrumentation to measure correlated electron-ion dynamics in the gas phase
Project Start Date: October 2025
The research group is recruiting applicants for a fully funded PhD studentship in the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham to work under the supervision of Dr Patrick Robertson. The project will develop new instrumentation to study the chemistry of ionised molecules in the gas phase. Molecular cations play a fundamental role of the chemistry of many environments such as plasmas, the Earth’s atmosphere and the interstellar medium. We are interested in learning about the structural changes that molecules undergo on the attosecond to picosecond timescale in response to their new electronic configuration, and understanding how this response dictates their chemistry.
