VU LRC Summer School: Advanced Experimental Training in Laser Physics and Ultrashort Pulse Characterization, 19-23 August 2024, Vilnius, Lithuania
Dates: Monday 19th August – Friday 23rd August 2024
Event location: Vilnius University Laser Research Center, Sauletekio ave.10, 10223 Vilnius, Lithuania
This summer school offers an intensive and comprehensive program covering relevant contemporary topics in laser physics and ultrashort pulse characterization. The courses aim to provide both theoretical and practical skills for participants, catering to different levels of expertise. Participants will acquire valuable personal skills through direct engagement with experimental work in the laboratory setting.
The summer school will precede the 11th EPS-QEOD Europhoton Conference in Vilnius on 26-30 August 2024.
Admission information:
The summer school is open to a maximum of 10 attendees. Master’s, PhD or postdoctoral students, as well as other researchers in the fields of laser physics and nonlinear optics, and in those disciplines or research areas that rely upon an intensive use of laser technologies, are invited to apply by submitting their curriculum vitae. The application should include their current job/academic position, a brief overview of research interests and activities, and a list of publications. The supervisors of each topic will evaluate candidates for assignment based on the scientific quality of the candidate and their country of origin.
Please note that it is important to indicate the topics you would like to attend during this training school. Each topic is restricted to maximum 2 participants, and there are some differences in the completion time of the training:
Topic 1 – This training entails a two-day experimental laboratory session, offering participants an immersive experience in a specific area. It is dedicated to advanced participants who are expected to have a fundamental understanding of the subject matter. Attendees will personally conduct all experiments, enhancing their skills significantly.
Topics 2 - 5 – Each of these topics involves a one-day experimental laboratory session, providing participants with the flexibility to choose and engage in different topics throughout the four-day summer school. Training structure is designed for advanced participants, and attendees are encouraged to have a fundamental understanding of the subject matter.
Please note that the participants have the flexibility to choose and engage in different laboratory works during the four-day summer school. Therefore, each participant has the ability to choose at least three different lab works during the school or choose all four if they wish.
