Fully funded 4-year PhD position, XFEL Science for Energy Materials, the University of Warwick, Coventry, UK (Deadline: 01.05.2025)
The position is for an October 2025 start date and in close collaboration within Femtosecond X-ray Group at European XFEL, Hamburg, Germany led by Chris Milne.
The project is predominantly experimental and will involve the development and application of ultrafast THz and X-ray spectroscopies (pump-probe, photon correlation) to examine lattice fluctuations and ion transport in energy materials. Work will be performed both at the table-top and at free-electron laser facilities. There is significant room for international travel to beamlines/to visit collaborators and you will learn a range of skills in optics, data analysis/coding, and (quantum) condensed matter.
