FASTLITE job opportunity: R&D Optical Engineer, Antibes, France

The company FASTLITE, now part of Amplitude Laser Group (https://amplitude-laser.com/), is looking for candidates with a background in physics and nonlinear optics for an R&D position.
The research and development thematic is: « Research and development of Ytterbium-pumped optical parametric amplifiers ”.

The candidate will design, develop, assemble optical systems and experiments according to customers’ specifications and our development roadmap. He/She will also install the systems at customers’ sites around the world.

The candidate must have experience with ultrafast lasers and measurement techniques.

The work location is in Antibes (French Riviera, France).

FASTLITE designs and manufactures scientific instruments for the ultrafast laser community since 1999: acousto-optic pulse shapers (DAZZLER), pulse characterization devices, Ytterbium-pumped OPCPAs and customer-inspired tools and solutions. The company now employs around 20 people including 8 PhDs. The company has two facilities in France: one in Orsay (south of Paris) and one in Antibes (French Riviera). Since July 2023, Fastlite is a 100% subsidiary of Amplitude Laser.

Responsibilities/duties
 Design and implement complex optical assemblies, e.g Ytterbium-pumped OPCPAs
 Installation and service of developed systems
 Perform data analysis and numerical modelling to support experimental efforts
 Operate and maintain state-of-the-art lasers and optical subsystems
 Attend international conferences and meetings

We are looking for a candidate with:
 PhD in Physics (or a closely related discipline)
 At least three years theoretical/practical experience in ultrafast laser technology, ultrafast measurement techniques or nonlinear optics
 Willingness to travel worldwide (Europe, US, Asia)
 Working autonomy
 Taste for high tech and technical challenges
 Communication and reporting skills
Desirable
 Programming skills in Python
 Experience with optical parametric amplifiers, high-average-power lasers
 Experience in designing GUIs (user interfaces)
