Workshop on Micro and Nano-Structured Materials for Experiments with High-Power Lasers (21 September 2024, Lisbon/Portugal)
The Workshop on Micro and Nano-Structured Materials for Experiments with High-Power Lasers will take place on 21 September 2024 at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal, as a satellite meeting of the ECLIM Conference.
Structured materials have many applications in the physics of interaction with high-power lasers. On the one hand, micro-structured materials are used for inertial confinement fusion, particle acceleration, X-ray generation, study of the equations of state. Nano-structured materials, on the other hand, find many applications in particle acceleration physics with ultrashort lasers.
The Workshop is intended to be a place to discuss about the different aspects of the research with these materials:
- Experimental strategies and results
- Theoretical modeling and numerical simulations
- Material science and manufacturing
The meeting will be an occasion to generate constructive discussions among these topics, which are strongly interconnected, but sometimes considered separately.
The workshop is organized by the Laserlab-Europe AISBL Expert Group on "Micro- and nano-structured materials for experiments with high-power lasers" and supported by Laserlab-Europe AISBL.
