City tour

- Only for registered participants -

The city tour will take place on Tuesday, starting after Session 4b (around 17:30). Conference buses will be available at the East entrance of IST (facing Alameda park, towards Alameda Metro Station) to take us downtown. The tour will take between 2 and 2.5 hours. Afterwards, you may choose to stay in Baixa for dinner or return to the hotel area via the metro.

Getting there from the Airport

Humberto Delgado Airport (IATA: LIS), informally Lisbon Airport, is an international airport located about 20 minutes away from the city centre of Lisbon. You may use either the metro, the bus or taxi/Uber to reach IST.

  • Metro - The Lisbon Airport has a Metro (subway) station with a direct line to the city centre. The 'Aeroporto – Saldanha' line takes you to downtown Lisbon in about 20 minutes. Single fare price is €1.80 and a 24h Network Pass costs €6.80. The closest metro stations to the Congress Center are ‘Campo Pequeno’, ‘Alameda’ and ‘Saldanha’. https://www.metrolisboa.pt/en/

  • Buses - Several bus lines stop at the airport arrivals terminal, taking you to different parts of the city. However, please note that the maximum baggage size allowed in these buses is 50x40x20cm. If your baggage exceeds this size, you must take the airport's specific buses (Aerobus and Airport Shuttle). https://www.carris.pt/en/
  • Taxi - You can always find a taxi at the airport, normally queueing outside the departures and arrivals terminals. As the city centre is very close by, taxis are a rather affordable transportation option, even with the luggage fees that may be charged separately by the driver. Depending on traffic, the journey to the city centre is quick, costing between 10 and 15 euros, including luggage fees. If you choose this mean of transportation, make sure the meter is turned on at the beginning of the journey and always ask for a receipt/invoice. Please exert usual precautions and ensure that the driver is taking an adequate path. If you prefer to take an Uber from the airport, once you are in Arrivals, head to Park P2 and follow the directions.
