SUMMARY:Explainable AI models for Materials Science with the SISSO Approach - Online Webinar
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the next entry in the FHI-aims webinar series. The series showcases the electronic structure package FHI-aims (https://fhi-aims.org) in important applied research fields and industries. The next webinar will be held on September 03 and September 04\, 2025. \nTitle: \nExplainable AI models for Materials Science with the SISSO Approach \nSpeakers and Talks: \nAn Introduction to SISSO and Recent Advances in the Methodology\nBy Thomas A. R. Purcell (Assistant Professor\, The University of Arizona\, USA) \nDescribing Materials Properties and Functions via the “Materials Genes” Concept\nBy Lucas Foppa (Group Leader\, NOMAD Laboratory at FHI of the Max Planck Society\, Germany) \nEach webinar consists of keynote talks and a hands-on session; both are free to attend without registration. We provide resources for running the calculations during the hands-on sessions. Only participants who want to access these resources need to register in advance. We are happy to welcome you and your colleagues at this event. Please feel free to distribute this invitation. \nMore details and registration can be found at: \nhttps://indico.ms1p.org/e/webinar_sisso \nWhat is FHI-aims? \nFHI-aims is an all-electron electronic structure code based on numeric atom-centered orbitals and can treat isolated molecules\, clusters\, surfaces\, and solids on the same footing. It enables first-principles simulations with very high numerical accuracy for production calculations\, with excellent scalability up to very large system sizes (> ten thousand atoms for Hybrid DFT) and up to very large\, massively parallel supercomputers (ten thousand CPU cores). FHI-aims is the product of a very large community\, without whom this code would not exist\, and to whom we are immensely grateful. The code can be acquired for free for academic use. Please see https://fhi-aims.org for more information. \nWith best wishes\,\nKonstantin Lion \nOn behalf of the FHI-aims coordinators
