Postdoc position, Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Non-adiabatic Dynamics in Gas and Liquid phases, Kyoto University, Japan

A postdoctoral position in ultrafast spectroscopy of non-adiabatic dynamics in gas and liquid phases is available at Kyoto University, Japan, in the group of Prof. Toshinori Suzuki. http://kuchem.kyoto-u.ac.jp/bukka/index-e.html The research area is ultrafast laser photoemission spectroscopy of non-adiabatic chemical reactions in gas and condensed phases. The ultrashort deep/vacuum UV laser based on filamentation four-wave mixing, optical parametric amplifiers, and the extreme UV laser based on high-order harmonic generation, a sub-femtosecond precision pump-probe setup are coupled with either a magnetic bottle time-of-flight electron energy analyzer or an electron imaging analyzer. Ultrafast vibrational spectroscopy is also used to study nuclear dynamics in solutions. The position is available immediately and the appointment is for 2 years by mutual agreement. Experience with ultrafast laser spectroscopy is preferable, but enthusiasm for exploring fundamental reaction dynamics is more essential. Kyoto is the ancient capital of Japan and the heart of Japanese history and culture. It is a quiet and pleasant place to study and live. Applicants should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of two referees to Prof. Toshinori Suzuki (suzuki@kuchem.kyoto-u.ac.jp).
