PhD/Postdoc positions ERC project on Ultracold Polariton Chemistry, Fritz Haber Institute of the MPG, Berlin, Germany

Openings for a PhD student and a Postdoc in a research group  at the Molecular Physics Department of the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin, Germany.

The goal of the project is to study Polariton Chemisty at ultracold temperatures. We will develop a new experimental platform that combines techniques of physical chemistry, such as mass spectrometry and ion imaging, with those of quantum optics and Cavity-QED.  The plan is to strongly couple ultracold molecules to an optical cavity and observe modification of reaction dynamics as a function of cavity-molecule coupling. The project is supported by my ERC Starting Grant.

Applicants should hold a Master or PhD degree in physics, chemistry, or a related field. Candidates should have a high interest in building and designing a new experimental setup and in learning and trying new techniques. Prior experience with laser cooling and trapping, ultra-high-vacuum apparatus, quantum optics, ion
