PhD position in Physics, Buffer-gas-cooled Molecular Hydrogen for Spectroscopic tests of fundamental Physical interactions, CNR-INO, Napoli, Italy

The PhD work will focus on the realization of novel quantum sensors of fundamental Physics, based on the production of molecular samples at cryogenic temperatures by the buffer-gas-cooling (BGC) technique, and their combination with cavity-enhanced precision spectroscopy in the Lamb-dip regime. In particular, we aim to set new bounds on putative fifth forces beyond the Standard Model, by accomplishing sub-kHz-accuracy line-centre frequency determinations for selected hydrogen deuteride (HD) ro-vibrational transitions in the overtone/fundamental band.

The selected candidate will join a young and highly motivated research team in on-going activities. The ideal candidate should have a Master (or equivalent degree) in Physics, with a good attitude towards the laboratory work.

Application - Interested candidates, prior to the official on-line application available at
https://www.unicampania.it/index.php/didattica/dottorati-di-ricerca/iscriversi-ad-un-dottorato, should send their CV to the PhD supervisors below, also providing the name of at least one referee who can write about their academic achievements, their motivations and skills.
